Area guide to Marbella East

Marbella East is a booming housing area! You have probably heard of Marbella before, right? The famous municipality and city on the Costa del Sol are known as the playground of Europe’s rich and famous. Today, we will take a closer look at the east side of Marbella, which is the beautiful stretch that goes all the way from Cabopino, where Marbella begins, to Los Monteros just before Marbella centre. We will, of course, also show you some incredible properties along the way.

Many buyers are drawn to Marbella East because it is close to Marbella city centre but not too far from Málaga Airport. In addition, it is very tempting to have the Mediterranean sea right in front of you with miles of sandy beaches and the Sierra mountains in the back. No wonder properties are getting ripped away in Marbella East!

Cabopino

Cabopino is a residential area on the border between Marbella and Mijas Costa. There is a golf course, a camping site and a variety of apartments, townhouses and villas. However, what Cabopino is renowned for is its beautiful broad beach of no less than 1,500 meters with the protected Artola sand dunes on one side and the charming marina by the name of Puerto Cabopino on the other.

Even though the marina in Cabopino is small and almost hidden away (especially compared to Puerto Banús), you will find several fine restaurants and bars, not to mention some impressive yachts in the harbour. Both the beach and Puerto Cabopino are easily accessible from the N-340/A-7 motorway, which makes it a perfect place to spend the day with family and friends.

A little heads-up: Do not get alarmed if you see someone sunbathing naked. Clothing is optional on the beach area around the sand dunes in Cabopino.

Marbesa

Marbesa is a well-established, calm and lovely neighbourhood in Marbella East between Cabopino and Elviria. You will experience a real community feeling in this small urbanisation, which is inspired by the traditional Andalusian white villages covered with colourful flowers.

Marbesa consists of many amazing villas closely located to the beach, and thus, near some of the excellent beach restaurants in the area, such as Simbad Restaurant & Beach Bar and Le Papillon Restaurant & Beach Club.

Elviria

Elviria might be the neighbourhood in Marbella East with the most facilities and services. It is a lively area with its own shopping mall, supermarkets, hairdressers, banks, various bars and restaurants, which contribute to a wonderful atmosphere. There is also a street market every Friday next to the business centre, where you can take a stroll around to buy flowers, fruits, clothes, lamps and more.

The beachside in Elviria is exclusive and one of the most sort after property areas. One of the famous places in Elviria is Nikki Beach Marbella Restaurant & Beach Club, which is the first and original luxury beach club. Many people go to Nikki Beach to enjoy the great music and get a taste of the luxurious life that Costa del Sol offers.

Other nice places to check out are Restaurante La Scala Marbella, The Beach House Restaurant Marbella, Don Carlos Leisure Resort, La Plage Casanis, The PlayWright Bar and Restaurant Marbella, and Restaurante El Lago Marbella which has a Michelin star.

Costabella

Costabella is an upcoming beachside urbanisation located between Elviria and El Rosario. It is about 45 minutes from Málaga Airport and 10 minutes from Marbella Old Town, so if you have a property here, you will be close to anything you may need.

Over the last few years, investors have invested in plots, villas and new build projects in Costabella, which has given the neighbourhood a facelift that increases the value of the homes in Costabella. Check out an example of a Mojo Approved luxury beachside villa in Costabella in Marbella East in the video above.

Less than a 5-minute drive from Costabella, you have The English International College (EIC), which is a British private school founded in 1982. It is ranked as one of the best international colleges in Europe.

The beach in Costabella is also living up to the reputation of Marbella East. We can, for example, recommend that you try the beautifully designed Luuma Beach & Restaurant if you are in the mood for a delicious meal and a glass rosé, while you watch the sun go down. If you are looking for a cool place to spend the day and night with drinks, food and good music, Restaurante Bono Beach Marbella is worth visiting.

El Rosario

El Rosario is a small residential urbanisation which has developed over the years into a quiet and gated community that attracts buyers interested in private, luxury villas in Marbella East. However, the area has a mix of apartments, townhouses and luxury villas within different price ranges, so there is something for every taste.

In the community, there is a small outdoor commercial centre, El Nuevo Rosario, with a supermarket, bakery, cosy cafeteria, restaurant, hairdresser, pharmacy, car mechanic and more. And if you would like to do some more extensive shopping, you can drive to La Cañada shopping mall in just 10 minutes, where you can explore more than 150 shops.

In El Rosario, you are within walking distance to Santa Clara Golf, the Royal Tennis Club, and a family-friendly beach. If you want to enjoy a nice meal and a drink after a beach day or a day with sports activities, we suggest that you try Siroko Beach, where you can sit with your feet in the sand and enjoy the Costa del Sol lifestyle.

Los Monteros

It was the famous Spanish banker, Ignacio Coca, who constructed the Los Monteros Hotel in 1962 and Rio Real Golf course in 1965 as part of the Los Monteros Group. In 1970, the beachside estate comprising villa plots was constructed as the urbanisation of La Reserva de los Monteros. Since then, the other estates and complexes have been constructed in Los Monteros. It is generally a popular area for home buyers and it has, among others, attracted the actor Antonio Banderas.

Los Monteros is a prestigious and exclusive urbanisation in Marbella East with both beachside and mountainside neighbourhoods. One can easily get confused when looking at the map over the housing area because there are several different neighbourhoods in Los Monteros. After El Rosario, the first neighbourhood you meet on the A7 motorway is Los Altos de los Monteros on the mountainside. Here, you will see the amazing new development called ICON residences.

TIP: It is a good idea to bring your golf clubs to this area, as this is also where Santa Clara Golf, Marbella Golf and Río Real Golf are located.

After Los Altos de los Monteros, you can take the exit to Los Monteros urbanisation, where there is one of the most luxurious hotels on the Costa del Sol, Los Monteros Marbella Hotel and Spa 5* GL (which was the first hotel in Spain to have a Michelin-starred restaurant). Furthermore, the hotel and the area of Los Monteros are renowned for La Cabane Beach Club.

The next neighbourhood you meet on the A7 motorway is Bahía de Marbella, followed by La Reserva de los Monteros, Playa los Monteros, and last but not least, Río Real. Afterwards, there is Torre Real, which is the last urbanisation belonging to Marbella East. If you get hungry when you come to this area, we can highly recommend Trocadero Arena, which is in Playa Río Real.
